About the Course
YMCA Awards Level 3 Personal Training (Practitioner)
This qualification aims to develop your knowledge and skills so you can establish yourself as a Personal Trainer and be able to plan and deliver long term programmes to 121 clients and small groups.
Entry Requirements
You must hold a recognised Level 3 Certificate in Fitness Instructing in the context of gym-based exercise prior to commencing this Personal Trainer qualification. You must also have experience participating in gym-based exercise, good communication skills, and ability to use a computer including the internet.
Payment Plan
To make your qualification more affordable, we offer a payment plan where you pay a non-refundable £125 deposit and choose to repay the balance, interest-free over 3, 6, 9 or 12 months.

What topics are covered on this course?
Posture and common postural deviations including the impact of exercise.
Structure and function of the musculoskeletal system including anatomical terms and planes of movement.
The effects of exercise on the musculoskeletal system and disease processes.
Structure and function of the cardiovascular system, nervous system, endocrine system, and energy systems.
The components of a healthy lifestyle and factors affecting health and wellbeing.
Psychological factors that can influence change to an individual's lifestyle.
A range of health conditions and medically controlled diseases.
Pre-exercise screening to include methods to gather information, how to undertake pre-screening and how to select and implement client assessments (including static and dynamic assessments)
Theories and approaches that can motivate positive behaviour change.
How to professional interact with clients and other relevant professionals.
How to set and adapt meaningful SMART goals linked with clients needs, wants and motivators including how to monitor and review client progress
Planning, preparing and delivering safe personal training programmes with clients including how to use fitness training techniques and alternative environments and activities.
Designing and delivering small group personal training sessions.
The legal and ethical responsibilities of a personal trainer and the principles of best practice.
Reflecting on and develop own professional practice.
The principles of nutrition and the influence of nutrition on health.
Key nutritional guidelines that are within the scope of practice of a personal trainer.
The relationship between nutrition and physical activity.
Identifying and analysing nutritional information and applying nutrition to a physical activity programme.
Marketing strategies and techniques in planning and promotion.
How to sell personal training services to clients including how to communicate the benefits of the service.
Components of a business plan relevant to a PT business including how to legally set up as a business.

Study and Assessment Options
This is an ONLINE LEARNING course, which involves study from home online.
Once enrolled, you will be set up on your online learning and you will receive your login within 5 days. You will receive an email immediately upon enrolling so you can access all other resources for your course.
In order to complete your qualification, you will complete a range of different assessments. These will include:
An online closed-book, exam conditions multiple choice exam covering anatomy & physiology and nutrition. This can be completed from home. The pass rate for this exam is 70% and resits are available.
An online assessment workbook.
Written worksheet questions.
Completion of a Personal Training project to include a consultation, 12-week programme design, programme delivery to your client, programme review and client feedback. Your client will be a 16+ year old, health individual.
Business and marketing plan.
