Unit 5 and 6 Topics
These units cover the knowledge, understanding and skills to plan and deliver exercise and physical activity for children aged 5-15 years. You will learn about child development and the appropriateness of different activities for different groups to develop social skills, and physical development. You will gain an understanding of children's needs and how to safeguard their health, safety and welfare. You will also show that you know how to communicate in a way to show skills and techniques appropriate to the children's level of understanding, giving the opportunity to take part in physical activity, and providing clear and positive feedback, motivation and support.
- Two multiple choice exams for Units 1 and 3, which can be sat online from home,
- Online quiz assessments for Units 2 and 4,
- Written worksheet questions for Unit 5 and 6,
- Two written session plans for 5-11 year old and 12-15 year olds for Unit 5, and;
- Two observations of your delivering sessions to children aged between 5-11 and 12-15 years olds for Unit 6, which can be completed remotely and submitted as a video assessment.
You will receive online elearning for Units 1-4 including access to your online quiz assessments for Unit 2 and 4 - this are called the Y-Mark Mandatory Units Assessment Workbook.
You will also receive a course manual for Units 5 and 6 along with a Learner Assessment Record where you will find all your coursework paperwork.
Please note this is a distance learning course with support from a 121 assessor. For the final assessment you will be required to deliver and film one practical session to a group of 6 children (or of similar age). This can only take place once current restrictions are lifted and you must access the children yourself with permission of their parents/carers.
