It will equip instructors with the skills to design fitness programmes to improve performance within a specific sporting events.

What will I learn on the Sports Conditioning course?

What will I be able to do by the end of the course?

Collect information relevant to the clients chosen sport or sporting event including past achievements/training, likes/dislikes, targets/goals, injury history and current training and lifestyle in order to reduce risk of injury or overtraining, boost adherence to the programme, increase the effectiveness of the programme. How to analyse the requirements of sporting activities from the perspective of fitness and conditioning including demand on energy systems, power, speed agility, strength, endurance, and flexibility. How to breakdown the clients chosen sport or sporting event to include a needs/skill analysis, movement pattern analysis. Identify different conditioning activities to include sports specific movement, health-related activities, pre-competition conditioning, tapering, post-competition training. Plan an exercise plan which include sports-specific, fitness and conditioning activities relevant to the clients sport or sporting event.

What are the qualification units and how are each assessed?


UNIT 1 - Exercise Programming for Sports Conditioning

Assessed via written knowledge questions worksheet and case study, including client profile, sports profile, needs analysis, movement analysis and periodised programme.

What is the entry requirement for this course?

You must have a recognised Level 2 Fitness Instructor qualification in order to complete this course or you can complete them in conjunction with each other.

Study & Assessment Options

This qualification is offered as a DISTANCE LEARNING course. 

The DISTANCE LEARNING course includes a sports conditioning text to study from, assessment guidance and templates, digital submission of coursework. 

All students have up to 12 months to complete and pass all assessments in order to achieve the qualification.
