Become a Personal Trainer
This YMCA Awards Level 3 Personal Training (Practitioner) qualification is for anyone wishing to become a personal trainer and work with clients on a 1-2-1 basis or in small groups.
Our flexible courses including online learning, can be started upon enrolment. This qualification also awards 10 CIMSPA points and 20 REPs points.
Study & Assessment Options
This qualification is offered as an ONLINE or LIVE course, which you can start studying straight away.
Both the ONLINE and LIVE courses includes online elearning for all units plus attendance and/or video submission for assessments. We have plenty of assessment dates available each month for our students at our Midlands venue, but it is possible to sit your exams in your workplace should you not be able to attend one of our assessment centres.
If you feel you would benefit from some tutor-taught workshops to supplement the online learning, then you can book on our 8 LIVE workshop days (included in course fee). These workshops cover content from units 2, 3 and 4:
Promoting Wellness Through Client Motivation and Interaction;
Bespoke Exercise Programme Design, and;
Customised Exercise Programme Instruction and Communication Techniques.

YOU MUST HAVE ACCESS TO A FITNESS FACILITY THROUGHOUT YOUR COURSE - check what equipment is required.
You must have the ability to demonstrate instruction of a variety of CV and resistance training methods with or without equipment. This can include CV machines, resistance machines, free weights, functional equipment e.g. medicine balls, power bands, resistance bands, VIPRs, kettlebells, battle ropes, slam balls, TRX, BOSU, stability discs etc. There is no minimum requirement.
