Lead Outdoor Fitness Sessions
The Level 3 Award in Instructing Outdoor Fitness Sessions is accredited by YMCA Awards and recognised by CIMSPA.
It will equip instructors with the skills to lead outdoor fitness sessions, making activities, imaginative, progressive and effective.
What will I learn on the Outdoor Fitness course?
What will I be able to do by the end of the course?
- Lead imaginative, progressive and effective outdoor fitness sessions;
- Understand the considerations involved in working with groups in an outdoors environment;
- Understand how to plan a range of exercises relevant to groups of participants outdoors , using bodyweight, environment and small equipment;
- Plan appropriate exercise sessions, taking into account the opportunities and limitations presented by the environment.
What are the qualification units and how are each assessed?
UNIT 1 - Planning and delivering group exercise sessions in an outdoor environment.
Assessed via a 45-60 minute session plan, practical observation (video evidence) and knowledge questions worksheet.

What is the entry requirement for this course?
You must have a recognised Level 2 Fitness Instructor qualification in order to complete this course or you can complete them in conjunction with each other.
Study & Assessment Options
This qualification is offered as a DISTANCE LEARNING course.
The DISTANCE LEARNING course includes an outdoor fitness text to study from, assessment guidance and templates, digital submission of coursework and video evidence.
All students have up to 12 months to complete and pass all assessments in order to achieve the qualification.
